Beta Club.
Beta club is collecting canned food items and paper products (toilet paper, for example) for the Olive Branch Food Ministry and Holly Springs’ victims. Donations can be dropped off in Ms. Stanley’s room, C14, or any classroom that has a designated box for these items. The drive will run until the middle of February.
Book Club.
Book Club is reading Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King for the month of February.
The Washington Post explains the books as “a high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely heroes Stephen King has ever created, try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands.”
The book club will meet on Monday, February 29 at 7:50 in room C-10. All are invited.
CHHS Choir.
CHHS Concert Choir and Select Women’s chorus will also be raising money for their trip to Washington DC in the spring. Each grade will host a Buffalo Wild Wing’s night.

FCCLA.
An in-school field trip was one of many highlights for members of FCCLA. Club members heard speakers from Memphis Roots and Mississippi State.
In January, members were busy crocheting and/or knitting scarves and hats for the needy individuals. Members will continue to meet on Tuesdays to crochet and/or knit.
Science Club.
At the last Science Club meeting, we observed different forms of electromagnetic waves in various experiments. One of the experiments included using microwaves to power a light bulb in a beaker of water.
Student Council.
Student Council has worked very hard to plan this year’s Winterfest, so be sure to dress up for the following days:
- Monday, January 25th: College Team Day
- Tuesday, January 26th: Twin/Trio Day
- Wednesday, January 27th: Hero/Villain Day
- Thursday, January 28th: “Hunt the Gators” Day (Camo)
- Friday, January 29th: Color War/Spirit Day (Freshman wear gray, sophomores wear red, juniors wear white and seniors wear black!)
Don’t forget to come out and support your Center Hill basketball teams against the Lake Cormorant Gators Friday night starting @ 6.
Ultimate Frisbee.
Club members are eagerly waiting competition from other area high schools. At this time, the club is practicing every other Thursday after school on the football practice field. The next practice will be February 11, 4:00-5:00 pm. If you are interested in playing, please plan to attend the next practice or see Mrs. Jones.
Winterguard.
On Saturday, January 30, Center Hill will be hosting the first Winterguard competition of the season, not to mention the first competition Center Hill has ever hosted. This is a huge accomplishment for our Guard and CHHS as a whole. After school, the Varsity and JV have been working extremely hard to create and execute a show Center Hill will be proud of, so come out and support your CHHS Winter Guard.
The recognition and earnings from the show will help to improve Center Hill’s band program in many ways.
Acknowledgments: head instructor Melanie Caffee, assistant instructor Jamie Frey, team captains Jill Ressler and Haley Parker, varsity soloists Lauren Hansel and Jordan Riecke, and JV soloist Carrie Guy.
