Each year, new students come from all over to Center Hill High School. This year Mary Catherine Miller, a junior, moved here from Tupelo. Learn more about Miller from the interview below.
Interests: Music, reading, socks and cats.
Accomplishments: 3-year Rotary Scholar at Tupelo High School; ACT Scholar; member of the National English Honor Society and the Key Club; winner of a school wide Veterans’ Day essay contest; member of a pre-professional ballet company for two years; started dancing at the age of 3 and began en pointe ballet in 5th grade; was elected co-captain of the THS Color Guard; was selected in the 7th grade to perform with the THS Varsity Band as a dance soloist; plans to major in pharmacy at either the University of Mississippi or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Question: How do you like Center Hill and why?
Miller: I love it even though it’s so much smaller than Tupelo. It’s like a breath of fresh air.
Question: How are you involved in the school?
Miller: I’m in Color Guard.
Question: What is your favorite thing about Center Hill?
Miller: The people. Everyone I have met so far has been so kind to me.
Question: What is your favorite class/subject so far?
Miller: AP English 3. It has challenged me to think more critically in order to grasp an understanding of what is written.
Question: What was the hardest part of changing schools?
Miller: The lockers (we didn’t use lockers at Tupelo) and not knowing who anyone is.
Question: What are you looking forward to most at Center Hill this year?
Miller: Meeting new people and making new memories.
