With their new coach, Ryan Worsham, the Center Hill High School girls soccer team traveled to Itawamba Community College in May for annual summer camp. Players said the experience will benefit the team.

“The Southern Miss coach that helped us was great,” senior Hannah Stagoski said. “We learned how to shift defensively, communicate and more.”

Dylan Burnett, an assistant coach for the USM women’s soccer team, worked with the 16 CHHS players who attended the residential camp May 28-31 in Fulton. The residential camp featured training sessions and 11 v 11 games against other teams including Lewisburg High School, Itawamba High School, MS Flood Club Team and Mooreville High School.

Linley Robinson, who will play defense for the Lady Mustangs as a freshman this year, said she improved her skills.

“I learned to pass better, look up and search for players, have really high intensity going into the game and keeping it throughout,” she said.

At camp, sophomore Karmen Smith, junior Lauren Ballard and senior Bre Jimenez were named to the All-Star Team.

Jimenez said she feels good about the upcoming season.

“I feel that with a new coach we have a lot of potential, and the expectations for playoffs are even higher,” she said.
