The Center Hill High School varsity football team started their 23-24 season with a win last Friday, August 25th against Douglass High School.
Despite the lashing 93 degree heat, the team pushed through and came out on top.
Head coach Alan Peacock congratulated each player before reminding the team to not get cocky.
“Put your helmets on,” said Peacock during the final huddle, “and say good luck for the rest of the season. I don’t care what they say to you. I don’t care. You say good luck to the rest of the season and that is it.”
With multiple touchdowns, senior J.D. Washington carried the game.
The school showed up in droves for the first home game of the season, packing the tailgate and student section to the brim. Never one to miss tailgating at the Hill, baseball coach Peyton Callahan kicked back and enjoyed the game and time with family.
“I’ve been doing this for about three years,” explained Callahan, “so clearly I enjoy doing it. It’s a fun way to spend time with my family. It’s just a good time.”
Insane Stangs kept the energy alive in the stands as the team made touchdown after touchdown.
The football team takes on Southwind next Friday, September 1st at home. You can learn the dress up theme for each home game on the Insane Stangs instagram account, @chhs_insanestangs.
