Jose Esquivel, member of the class of 2021, joined The Pony Express during second semester of his junior year as a staff reporter. He enjoys photography and acting. At CHHS, he portrayed Chester McKee in the drama department's production of "The Great Gatsby."

Lily Moore, who was born with a condition called neurofibromatosis, had her left foot amputated when she was 2 years old. She has never let that bother her, and over the years has participated in cheer, dance and soccer. “My situation has always motivated me to do what most people would say is impossible,” she said. “As soon as someone would say ‘she can’t do that because of her leg’ or ‘don’t ask her to do that, she can’t,’ it just motivated me to want to accomplish it more.”

Breanne Jimenez and David DuVall were crowned Winterfest Queen and King Jan. 24, highlighting a week of festivities that also brought Center Hill’s the defeat of Lafayette 107-31. Jimenez said she’s always wanted to be Winterfest queen. “It felt really good,” she said. “I was really honored that the whole school nominated me to be their queen.”
