Gerald “Tri” Nason wins Star Teacher award.

Our resident history teacher and coach has had quite the successful year. Not only did he win the James Madison Fellow Award which paid for his Master’s and supplied him with classes at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., but he also most recently won the Star Teacher Award.

Question: Who nominated you to win this award?

Nason: Carolyn Baggett.

Question: What was your reaction to being named this year’s Star Teacher?

Nason: It was a big honor. I was also named Teacher of the Year last semester, but this award is more special because it was voted on by a student rather than by the teachers.

Question: What was given as a result of receiving this award?

Nason: Carolyn and I attended an Awards Ceremony and luncheon hosted by the Mississippi Economic Council in Jackson, Mississippi on April 28th.

Question: What occurred at the Awards Ceremony in Jackson?

Nason: Carolyn and I received recognition as well as awards. Also, the ceremony’s keynote speaker was Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, and he discussed Mississippi’s progress in education.
