Two Pony Express staff members, Lacey Buckley (’21) and Max Lankford (’20) were recognized May 22 in Youth Journalism International’s Excellence in Journalism contest. Buckley’s illustration “Keep Out” won second place and Lankford’s review of TLC reality shows earned an honorable mention.

Buckley was a staff artist for two years. “Keep Out” was first published March 5, 2020 to illustrate the newspaper’s initial coverage of COVID-19. Lankford was on the newspaper staff for three years as a photographer and writer.
