Don’t step on my shoes

Imagine you just bought some brand-new expensive shoes. You’re out with friends, walking through the mall and then BOOM, out of nowhere some little kid comes running and accidentally steps on them. Sucks, right?

When that happens, “I feel disrespected and disgusted,” said Anthony “Moose” Edwards, one of many teenage boys who treats his shoes as his most valuable possession. “My fists would ball up and I would get a certain look on my face.”

Edwards has a solution to keeping his expensive Jordan 4’s and Air Force 1’s from getting creased and stepped on.

“I keep cardboard in my shoes,” he said. “I usually walk in front and behind people with a little distance in between so they won’t step on my shoes.”

Sophomore Tyler Brooks feels the same way about shoes as Edwards.

“I get mad,” Brooks said. “I don’t like my shoes getting creased or seeing other people’s shoes creased.”

Brooks has another method of protecting his shoes.

“Walk a certain way,” he said. “We curl our toes on the inside of our shoes.”

Devin Newsom said he gets really upset when his shoes get messed up.

“I get aggravated and irritated,” the junior said. “I’m a shoe collector so I don’t like my shoes getting creased or stepped on at all.”
