Class of 2017 reflect on past 3 years, look forward to year ahead.

As the students at Center Hill start their new school years’, a whole new group of seniors start to reflect on high school as they begin their last year.

Cassidy Trim.

Question: What clubs and extracurricular activities have you been involved in?

Trim: I’ve been in Soccer, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Book Club, and Spanish Club.

Question: What is your favorite memory from high school?

Trim: Dressing up for homecoming week sophomore year, my friends and I went all out. It was so much fun. Diapers vs Dentures was by far the best day we’ve ever had, I looked good as a grandma.

Question: Who is a teacher that impacted you the most?

Trim: Coach Nason. He made me want to learn and hate when I did not do my best. His class is the only class I can confidently say that I enjoyed going to. The determination to succeed that I had in his class carried on into other things in life.

Question: What class did you enjoy the most?

Trim: I enjoyed learning Human A&P, but the overall class that I enjoyed most was probably US History.

Question: Most embarrassing moment of high school?

Trim: Aha, one time Mrs. Case told me my plants were unzipped and that was really embarrassing to me.

Question: What are you looking forward to most in your senior year?

Trim: The senior in me that’s ready to leave would say graduation, but I know this year is going to go by fast. I’m just ready to take it as it comes and make memories that last.

Question: Any advice for underclassman?

Trim: Alright listen, you don’t need to impress anyone, nobody is going to care how you looked or what someone said about you in five years, but what matters is trying your best for yourself. Do the work, get the grades, and find something that makes you happy. Don’t be afraid to try something new, it’s all about the experience and learning. Don’t look for anyone else’s approval. You’re going to fail, you’re going to lose friends, and you’re going to gain some, but don’t forget to just have fun and do your best.

Destiny Thompson.

Question: What clubs and extracurricular activities have you been involved in?

Thompson: Interact, Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, Yearbook, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Science Club, ACT 30+ Club, Newspaper, Superintendent Youth Leadership Council, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Students, and Band.

Question: What is your favorite memory from high school?

Thompson: That’s a hard one. It would probably be last year’s homecoming when it started pouring, and my plan of coverage of the court completely fell through. I ended up dragging Micayah around with an umbrella as I took pictures. The yearbook staff handled it really well, and after it was over, I carried all of the things back in with Mrs. Smith. We just sat and talked about things while we dried.

Question: Who is a teacher that impacted you the most?

Thompson: Nooooooo! I have so many teachers that have helped me develop into the person I am today. Every single teacher I’ve grown close to has in some way changed me for the better, but as a student, Ms. Stanley impacts me the most. She’s never given up on me and has allowed me to redeem myself in many ways.

Question: What class did you enjoy the most?

Thompson: Yearbook, although it’s technically a club, has helped me decide on what I hope will be my career, and it introduced me to some of my best friends whom I wouldn’t have grown close to otherwise.

Question: Most embarrassing moment of high school?

Thompson: I cried a lot last year! I don’t consider it necessarily embarrassing because I laugh most things off, but I did cry in Mrs. Ingram’s class once when I found out midterms were during Homecoming Week! Tears were a major part of my junior year which makes me laugh a lot thinking back on it.

Question: What are you looking forward to most in your senior year?

Thompson: I’m really excited to watch the underclassman figure out whom they are and grow into the leaders I know they can be. It’s really sad to know this is my last year as a Center Hill Student, but the next few classes are so eager and talented. I can’t wait!

Question: Any advice for underclassman?

Thompson: Stay active! Joining clubs is the best thing you could ever do besides appreciating your teacher. They do so much for us that we don’t even know about! Buy a yearbook too!! You’ll want it to look at years down the road!

Katie Hogan.

Question: What clubs and extracurricular activities have you been involved in?

Hogan: Student Council, Beta, NHS, and Class Officers.

Question: What is your favorite memory from high school?

Hogan: Being on homecoming court and getting to conduct the halftime show for the band in my dress was my favorite memory.

Question: Who is a teacher that impacted you the most?

Hogan: I have four, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Nobles, Ms. Stanley, and Mrs. Brown.

Question: What class did you enjoy the most?

Hogan: PSAT.

Question: Most embarrassing moment of high school?

Hogan: When my lip sync video to Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney aired on MTV.

Question: What are you looking forward to most in your senior year?

Hogan: I’m looking forward to seeing how everything unfolds and seeing how the opportunities I’ve been blessed with this year will affect my future. I’m looking forward to making memories that I’ll tell my kids and grandkids about one day.

Question: Any advice for underclassman?

Hogan: Be yourself. Join clubs, there’s something for everyone at Center Hill. Make as many friends as you can and get to know as many people as you can. Stand firm in your faith. Don’t spend so much time trying to find the perfect guy or the perfect girl. Make as many memories as you can, because it goes by blink.
