The Center Hill High School Dance Team danced its way to the top at the Universal Dance Association competition Feb. 3-5 at Disney World.

“This year at Nationals it wasn’t just about Disney World,” junior Niyah Odom said. “We were very determined to reach our goal of making it to Finals.”

Odom said when she heard the announcement that CHHS was in the Top 12, “My heart dropped and tears began to fall. Nobody understands how much hard work and dedication we put into this long season. It just feels amazing to be able to end a great season with the title of eighth in the nation.”

The win was a dream come true for senior Hanna Jenkins.

“When I was a freshman I used to dream of advancing into Finals,” Jenkins said. “It still doesn’t seem real. All the hours and hard work CHDT put in totally paid off this past weekend. I am truly blessed to have been a part of this experience, and am looking forward to seeing all the amazing things CHDT will accomplish in the future.”
