On Oct. 14, the Center Hill Mustangs played a tough game against the Saltillo Tigers in the Homecoming game. With a score of 14-13, the Mustangs were winning right up until the fourth quarter.
“I feel the offense played good and moved the ball very well, although at times they were inconsistent,” offensive coach Jacob Faust said.
To improve for the upcoming game against Lake Cormorant, “I think the offense needs to get back to the basics,” Faust said. “Lack of effort has never been a problem. They just have problems focusing on the small details of the game.”
Faust added that Auston McMullen was the offensive MVP against Saltillo.
“Anytime a defense can force three turnovers and score a TD, it’s a good night for us,” defensive coach Anthony Ingram said. “Unfortunately, we gave up two big plays that were the difference in the game.”
When asked how he felt the defense can prepare for the Lake Cormorant, Ingram said that game will be a tough challenge.
“Lake Cormorant has a very good offense,” he said. “We need to eliminate big plays, force their QB to throw the ball into tight coverage, and have perfect execution. Our defense has proven we are ready for the challenge. We just have to answer the call.”
Ingram said that the defensive line as a unit would be the MVP from the Homecoming game.
“The defensive line had 16 tackles, six tackles for loss, four QB hurries, four QB sacks, one forced fumble, one pass breakup, one punt block, and one touchdown,” he explained.
The Mustangs’ last home football game of the year against will be Oct. 21.
