Over the summer, the Center Hill High School Explorer’s Club, a group at CHHS that travels to different parts of the world, made a trip across the pond to London.
Amber Terry, a sophomore at the time, shared some of her accounts of this once in a lifetime trip, which offered the opportunity to widen her perspective of the world.
“London expresses that the world is different everywhere and not necessarily for the worst,” Terry said. “From my perspective, the people seemed less violent.”
Explorer’s Club sponsor Cynthia Stanley agreed.
“London is a place of diversity,” she said. “You can encounter multiple different languages, ethnicities, and more just within a short walk. There is such a rich history over there. It is unlike anything we can experience in Olive Branch.”
While the effect of the trip on the students was eye-opening, everything from Stanley’s point of view was based on her students and sharing such an experience with them.
“This wasn’t my first time out of the country, but being able to go to the Globe Theatre and watch Shakespeare as a Groundling with some of my students was one of the highlights of the trip,” she said.
The Explorer’s Club’s next adventure will be to Italy in 2018.
