Young: As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I could never imagine myself doing anything else.
Question: What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Young: I enjoy the fact that I get paid to learn. I learn something new everyday, whether from my co-workers or my students.
Question: What is the most challenging thing about being a teacher?
Young: Sometimes the material I have to teach can be boring (as you remember), so finding ways to make it exciting is a challenge.
Question: If you were not a teacher, what do you think you would be doing?
Young: I would definitely be back in school studying Spanish.
Question: How different is it teaching a Spanish 3 class to students who have not had Spanish 2?
Young: There is a lot of vocabulary and grammar that the students have missed by not taking Spanish 2, not to mention the hours in the classroom that they are missing out on as well. Thankfully, I have a great group of kids who are up the challenge and are doing a fantastic job!
Question: What is it like being involved in Spanish Club?
Young: The goal of Spanish Club is to work on communication, in Spanish, especially within the community. Because the meetings take place after school and off campus, the members of Spanish Club are often students who want to better their communication skills. Working with them, and building relationships with them, has been very exciting this year.
Question: What are you most looking forward to in Spanish Club this year?
Young: Each meeting we seem to be acquiring more members. I am hoping this continues to be a trend. Also, I am excited to see how their communication skills improve.
