Chilly temperatures and muddy grounds were no match for Center Hill’s Cross Country team. They traveled to Clinton, MS, on Monday, November 9th to compete at the state cross country championships.
The girls’ team had a record setting meet, coming in fifth out of thirteen teams. They were led by Hajjia Mohammed who had an outstanding time of 23:44, which ranked her in the top 20.
Coach JJ Downs was very pleased with the team’s performance, saying, “This was the best meet ever for the girls, especially since this is the second year running 3.1 miles.”
The boys’ team also did a great job, placing tenth out nineteen teams. They were led by Garret Dunning who had a notable time of 19:46. The course was a difficult one with slippery running conditions featuring mud and a large pool of water, but the teams still pulled out excellent times.
Congratulations to the girls’ and boys’ teams for overcoming some tough obstacles and making our school proud. All these boys and girls represented Center Hill well for their last meet of the season.
