On Thursday, September 26th, Volleyball sprung to victory against South Panola, 25-8, 25-21, 25-7; a worthy victory and celebration for their only senior: Nyre Tillman.
“It was truly a great night, and I’m so proud of the girls, they’ve all worked so hard,” said Tillman, overjoyed about the team’s win. “It’s been so amazing to see everyone grow as athletes, even myself.”
Although Tillman is sad to depart, she’s excited for what her future holds.“I’m ready to start a new chapter in my life. I’ll miss everyone here, but I’m just ready for new beginnings,” explained the senior.
When asked about her future, Tillman says she plans on going into Architecture. “I’ve always been fascinated with the makeup of buildings, and right now I’m actually doing an internship with an architect, and it really inspires me to do what she’s doing.”
Even though the Lady Mustangs shared tears of joy with their only senior, they still managed to play their A-game against the Tigers.
Racking up points with her superb spiking and defense, sophomore Kylie Smith was a standout of the game, alongside junior Sophia Patterson’s serves and Ella Richardson’s hits.
Thrilled with their win, many girls had positive words to share. “If you love it, go above it,” shared Isabella Deranian.
Savannah James added, “Beat down, eat down.” The girls laughed together, riding high from their fresh victory.
With Monday’s in-school game against Desoto Central looming, Tillman and her teammates are ready to take down the Jaguars and claim victory once more.
