Homecoming week finally came to a close with the crowning of Caitlin Barnes, the volleyball and soccer star. It was a week filled with festivities including a parade, pep rally, and a football game. Although our football team came up short, it was a week to be remembered for years to come. From Memphis Monday to School Spirit Friday, our students showed up and showed out to in dressing up.
A special thanks to Mrs. Smith and the student council for making this homecoming a huge success. Our student body looks forward to continued success with Winterfest and next year’s homecoming.
The weather was perfect this year for the annual parade and pep rally. Clubs, sports teams, and other CHHS organizations put in their hard work and time to build floats of all shapes and sizes. The elementary and middle school kids were mesmerized as each float passed by.
The pep rally that followed was complete with a plastic wrap wrapping, a field goal attempt, and a dance off. Several students competed to see who could wrap a full tube of Saran wrap around a teacher.
Although Cody Carter gave Mrs. Johnson a full body wrap, Nick Parks edged him out for the win with Coach Frederic. Next, Annie Chan and Eduardo Valenzuela battled it out with a field goal kick off for a get-out-of-dress-code day. It was close, but Eduardo pulled through for the guys. Lastly, head football coach Alan Peacock and Coach JJ showed off their skills in a rematch at an earlier pep rally dance off. Although Peacock may have won last time, Coach JJ took home the crown this year.
Homecoming week was wrapped up at the football game Friday night. Even though we didn’t pull out a win, it was still an unforgettable night. It may have been cold and rainy, but the school spirit wasn’t dampened the slightest.
Each girl on the homecoming court looked stunning rain or shine, and the queen, Caitlin Barnes, wore her crown as proud as ever.
Homecoming week was truly a success and we have Mrs. Smith and the student council to thank for all their hard work and dedication.
