Girls soccer season marked by historic wins

The Center Hill girls soccer team did not make it to the 5A playoffs and ended its season on Jan. 31. However, their record was 14-6 and they won some great victories during the season.

The team had not beaten Lewisburg, one of their biggest rivals, since 2012, but on Jan. 9, the Center Hill girls caused a great upset by obtaining their second win in school history against the Lewisburg girls. Center Hill beat Lewisburg 2-1 during overtime with a winning goal by senior Annie Chan.

On Jan. 30, they beat DeSoto Central 2-1 for the first time in Center Hill girls soccer history.

“I feel as though when we gave up our pride and personal ego we finally became the team we always were,” junior Logan Tomlinson said. “We all worked relentlessly for each other and that is what a team is about.”

Chan and senior Tiffany Ogden, as well as junior Holland Watson, were also chosen to represent Center Hill in the DeSoto County All-Star Game on Feb. 27.
